Transitional Unit

The Wellington-Alexander Center wants to be certain that newly acquired skills generalize and carry over to  schoolwork.  To meet this objective, individuals will require follow-up sessions that occur  2 to 4 times per week for approximately 9-10 weeks following treatment.  We call this our Transitional Unit (TU).

The purpose of TU is to:
        - Ensure that new skills are being utlizied daily in schoolwork and homework
        - Establish optimal working behavior and organizational skills
        - Generalize and reinforce new language and sensorimotor integration skills
        - Encourage independence and self-confidence

In the TU, goals are established based on the individual child’s needs. In addition, the TU provides case management services including coordination with the schools, the parents, and other members of the Wellington-Alexander Center's treatment team. This collaboration provides a strong, structured and consistent support system.
